Tricking & Treating...

Saturday, DW and I had some plans... plans that involved a little road trip to Jacksonville, some steak kabobs on the grill, and of course watching the Gators put a beating on Georgia. These are our standard plans for the last Saturday in October every year. This year, like it sometimes does, it fell on Halloween....and while it made for some interesting sights at the game, it meant that we wouldn't be home to take Annabelle trick-or-treating....

Since our girl isn't old enough to get the whole "Trick-or-Treating" thing yet, we decided that we'd take her to a couple (family) houses on Friday night so she could show off her piggy costume and do some early trick-or-treating... And since she doesn't eat candy just yet, she took some to hand out to the family who's houses we visited. They were all thinking ahead though, because they all had some non-candy thing to give her! So sweet...

Our first stop was Grammy & Pop's. Dad met us at the door, and Annabelle looked at him and just laughed and laughed... It was like she thought he didn't know who she was dressed like that! It was precious... Grammy resisted the urge to introduce AB to "choc-choc" and instead of candy, got her some little pumpkins and bubbles. Mom didn't want me and Devin to feel all left out, so she got us some halloween masks! Ha!

Of course I can't see DW in a black mask and not recall the Halloween that we dressed up as Batman, BatGirl, & Robin... He referred to himself as "BatDork" since costumes aren't really made to fit a guy who's 6 foot 4! ha...

Next stop was to see Annabelle's Great-Granny. (Who's birthday is on Halloween and who is also Belle's namesake). Next to my own Momma, there's not a woman I love more than my Granny. We've always been very close and I'd always hoped she would get to know my children. I am so thankful that she has. Annabelle loves "Great-Granny" and immediately leans down to give her kisses when we see her. So sweet! I think she does it because since she was born, when we'd go to see Granny, my mom would usually be holding Annabelle and she'd bend her down to Gran and tell her to give Great-Granny kisses... I guess she just knows to do it now... Ha... Cooper called Granny "Bye" when he first started talking, because she had just had her stroke and was in rehab and when we would go to visit and then leave, we'd tell him to "tell Granny, Bye-Bye"-- so for a while every time he saw her he'd say, "BYE"... She'd laugh every time. After our stops on that side of the county, we headed back to our side... we met up with Stephanie, William & Willie (who were all dressed up---Willie was the lobster and William & Steph were chefs). We made the rest of our stops together... We stopped at a couple of our family's houses on our road....(it wasn't the best night to do it, since most of the family weren't home, including Annabelle's Pappy & Granny, but Willie & Annabelle didn't know the difference)!

We stopped at Mike & Jen's...
Then headed to Uncle Adam & Aunt Lauren's. Uncle Adam had carved a little pumpkin for Annabelle, since she couldn't have candy this year. And they'd gotten a tiny one for Willie, too.
Then we followed William & Stephanie into town where we made our last stop at Stephanie's parents' house. Willie's Nana had made special treat buckets for the kids, since they couldn't have candy! It was so sweet. They had some little toys, mini-cookies, and even a DVD! Willie was worried he was going to have to share his treat bucket, and he was holding onto it tight! Ha...
I know next year will be even more fun when AB's walking and talking, but she was pretty adorable and fun this year, too!

And that costume again... girl, I swear that thing is the CUTEST costume around. Every little girl should dress up like that at least once when they are little! Just darling.

Glad you had fun!
