Strawberry Shortcake

There's nothing sweeter this time of year than some good ole Florida grown strawberries!

I can't have any without thinking of how my grandparents would make a trip down to Plant City every year around this time to visit with my Granny's sister and brother-in-law, "Uncle Joe & Aunt Nellie."

When Papa & Granny would return home, you could always bet they'd have that Oldsmobile packed down with a couple flats of strawberries....enough for them to have several days worth to enjoy and of course some to give us!

Last week, my Momma bought some fresh berries from the traveling produce man that stops in at her work from time to time. You know what they say about history repeating itself. Mom didn't disappoint....just like Granny would have done, she thought of us and made sure to get enough to share.

After we'd eaten them all, I couldn't help but think of how cute Little Miss would be sitting in the box! Then I remembered her strawberry outfit that Steph had picked out for her and knew it was a photo op! Ha... We haven't had a front yard photo shoot in a while, but today the weather was perfect, so we couldn't resist!

Here's our little Strawberry Shortcake...

So many memories tied to those little red berries... and we're still making them...

The many sweet faces of Belle! That outfit with no sleeves gets me excited about Blue run and the beach. Lots of sun screen to keep her precious skin that fair! Those strawberries were delightful as well. Your momma taught you well...sharing with others :)

AB is quite the poser! Those pictures are sooo cute...I love good strawberries, but come on, do you have to do a post like this when it's 33 and snowing here?! I want sunshine too!

Love your little sweet cake! What precious pictures!

And, girl, I am all about some strawberries from Plant City...my grandparents retired for part of the year there and we were always visiting. I've never tasted anything so yummy in my life as a fresh strawberry milkshake from that little roadside stand!
YUM!!!
