Three reasons I know its Spring!

Spring is definitely here. Want to know how I can tell?

Here's my 3 reasons...

1. See this...

This is the view from our front yard at around 7:00 p.m. and the sun hadn't gone down yet! Hallelujah!!, There's still plenty of daylight when DW gets home from work! He's a much happier camper, for sure. See, he's one of those guys who can't be still. Not like hyperactive or anything crazy, but he is always busy. If he isn't doing something, he'll find something to do. Sometimes it can be exhausting. Cause me? Well, I'm a go-getter only about 80% of the time. The other 20% I am perfectly content laying on the couch or sleeping in. Nope, not my DW. He's always working on something or fixing something and this time of year is like food for his soul. Being in the outdoors just does him good. When the weather gets warm and the days get long, then it means he gets to be outside and work in the yard and use his tools. And he loves that....I guess that's a man thing because there's certainly not much about me that wants to be working in the yard. (That could be a post all on its own)... Anyway, we love long spring/summer days around here!

Know how else I know it's Spring?

2. See these...

Yep, flocks. There's nothing prettier than a roadside colored with pink, purple and white flocks. If you're really lucky, you'll run up on some deep dark red ones. They are by far my favorite. Probably because my Papa and Granny liked them so much. So much, that when I was little, Papa made Granny pull over the car one day and instructed Granny and I to pull some up. He had a plan of trying to transplant this rare colored flock near their house. I'm not sure if my grandfather knew that these wildflowers are state protected and that was totally against the law... Oh well, that's been close to 20 years ago! Anyway, back to my flocks. See, the other reason I love flocks so much is that my DW picks the first ones he sees every year for yours truly. He's done it since the first year we were dating. I was beginning to wonder when it would "officially" be Spring at our house which is confirmed at the first bouquet of flocks that are picked! We had been over at my in-laws house last week and my father-in-law had already picked my mother-in-law a bouquet... he's usually the first one, because he knows all the secret places where they start growing first! I have to give him props, too, cause he raised these boys of his right---Because, a couple days later we were over at DW's brother's house, and their kitchen counter was, too, adorned with a colorful arrangement of flocks. I have to say that Adam's arrangement would have won the award for most innovative. The vase was a water bottle with the top cut out. Now how sweet is that? He was out on the farm somewhere, saw the flocks and the only thing he had in his truck was a empty water bottle... Lauren left them in it, too... Now that's just sweet....

After seeing everybody else's flocks, I'll be honest---I was sitting on the edge of my seat wondering WHEN mine were going to get here!?!?!? Had we reached the year where I might, (gasp) NOT get any?!?!?!? NO WAY!!! I should have known DW better than that. Mine were waiting on me last week when Belle and I got back from our visit to Aunt Carrie's! Of course these were by far the sweetest ones I have ever received. Why? Because there were TWO little vases of flocks. A big one and a little one. On a hand written post-it note, one read To: Annabelle From: Daddy, and one was to me from my honey. Be still my heart. I have to point out that my bouquet was indeed the biggest! Wonder how long that will last! Ha...

And the LAST reason I know its Spring?

3. It's time for shorts!!!!

Check out Miss Priss in her new pink shorts. I am convinced, yet don't know how it's possible, that she gets sweeter every day! I have to grit my teeth CONSTANTLY or else, I'd just bite her!!!!! I think its safe to say that I am enjoying this whole girl thing! I wasn't sure I would know exactly what to do, but I am learning fast!!!!

Happy Spring!

That is the sweetest thing I've ever seen. She looks so grown up in that chair! The flowers are really sweet. Props to all the whitehurst men. :)

That is the sweetest thing about the flowers. I do believe you got a good one, Annie. And I still cannot get over Miss Annabelle. She's just so cute!! Honey, about the "girl" thing, I bet you got into the swing of things real quick with Carrie as your sidekick...hahaha. Nothing says girly like a whole bunch of pink and a few big bows :)

Three cheers for Pug for raising those Whitehurst boys right! I love that Devin brought you and Annabelle flocks this year. That's worth some serious points. Way to go DW!

Also, I have to say that I hope Annabelle will be wearing that awfully cute outfit to the Easter egg hunt Sunday! It's darling.

We had so much fun with you girls yesterday. Sorry Allie had to get loud a few times! You know us Ayers-Mizell girls have to make our presence known in a big way
(ha ha!) Can't wait to see y'all on Saturday!

It must be a Quincey thing to LOVE flocks. I think I love them because they are a spring time gift from God, only He has the ability to grow them. He plants them where His Glory needs to shine.

I am jealous of you for 2 reasons -- a man who busies himself around the house and he takes the time to pull off the road to pick flowers for the loves of hie life.

Girl you've got it good.

That is sooo sweet about the flowers! I love it! And I bet your heart just melted into a puddle that Little Bitty got her own little bouquet (from Daddy...aww!)! Your front yard view is amaaaazing.... Looks so peaceful. I'm so excited about shorts weather myself...even though, there is NO WAY I'm wearing shorts right now with my 200+ pound self...I can't wait to drop some baby weight, and some baby swelling, so that I can at least wear some capris!!

Now, before I leave your page...I have to go back and enjoy the Easter pics from your last post...because I love them so much! Hahahahahahahaha!
