“Oh I wish…”

…I were an Oscar Mayer wiener” --- the song, along with, “My bologna has a first name, it’s O-S-C-A-R” has been stuck in my head for almost the last 24 hours.

Saturday night, my Dad called to tell me he’d read in the paper that the Oscar Mayer wienermobile was going to be in front of the Wal-Mart on Sunday.

Of course, we had to take AB & Maybree to see it! DSC_2936

This was actually AB’s second visit with the mobile…

We saw it in front of Publix back in September of 2009. DSCN3695

DW, AB & The Wienermobile - 2009

The difference in the first and second visit, is that at the first, AB had no idea what a hotdog was. This time, she DOES. On the way to see the Wienermobile, my dad asked her if she knew what we were going to see… She said, “that big hotdog!” and when he asked her who liked hotdogs, she yells, “Me do! Hotdogs my favorite!”  (it will be a sad day when she replaces all these “me’s” with “I’s”) :)

The wiener crew was really nice and they were recent college graduates from New York. They’d driven this (which is one of a wienermobile fleet of 6) mobile all the way from Wisconsin. DSC_2962

The Wienermobile through the years:

They had the door to the mobile up, so everyone got a chance to look inside. It was hilarious. The leather seats were all embroidered with the Oscar Meyer logo, the dashboard is two huge hotdogs and the radio was set on a continuous loop of the Oscar Mayer hotdog songs. DSC_2939

Along with telling us about the Wienermobile, the “Hotdoggers” also handed out 75th anniversary stickers and of course, what we all went for, the classic Weenie Whistles!DSC_2937 I’m proud to say, thanks to my Dad, who took one for the team, we ALL came home with one! :)
