Dress Up Armoire…

I saw the idea of turning an old dresser into a dress-up armoire on Pinterest a while back. I searched high and low for the perfect size and shaped junk dresser to repurpose, and it turned up being right under my nose. Not to mention it’s pretty special, too.
This old French provincial dresser was part of my Mom’s bedroom furniture at my grandparent’s. It paid it’s dues over the years and had the marks, dings and even breaks to prove it. The drawers were falling apart and the tracks were even broken, so that’s the only reason my sentimental self was able to see it re-purposed.
I didn’t take a good before shot, before DW had cut the “guts” of the dresser out. But here’s the closest before I have…3

We cut the middle and drawer support boards out and then cased it in with some thin plywood. We also filled the holes where the support boards had gone. After a few coats of paint, I added a shower curtain rod for our hanging rod and we were ready to fill it with princess dresses and tu-tus!
I need to frame some new pictures to hang in the mural above it now!2
AB loves having her own separate “closet” for her princess dresses, and because it’s short, she does a pretty good job at keeping them all put back and in their place!
Dress up is a daily past-time at our house. DSC_1656I don’t know what we’ll do when little sister is old enough to want to be the “fairy godmother” too.

She’s pretty cooperative to let her big sister dress her up and choose her accessories…because for now, there’s only one girl wearing the wings and holding the wand.

I need to remember the dress up armoire when we have a playroom!! Amelia's are currently in the corner of her closet and it drives me nuts. She just digs them all out and throws them back in when she's finished. We need organization in this very important area! :)
