We had such a fun weekend at the beach with just the four of us!
The weather was kind of cloudy and rainy, but that didn't mess up our time at all.
We got to the condo on Friday night after some quick dinner, a Target run and a stop for an IceDream at the Chick-fil-A.
Saturday morning we hit the Krispy Kreme for breakfast, because if anything is better than Krispy Kreme, its Krispy Kreme at the BEACH! Amen? God was good to us and the hot light was even on.
When our bellies were full of sugar, we hit the pool. This is the first time I think we've ever gone and not taken chairs and toys down to the beach with us. Not feeling like pack mules felt really weird.
while me and Mames watched from the side. She was enjoying the shade and I was enjoying baking in the sun. We knew there was a chance for rain, so we were soaking it up while we could.
Even though we didn't take chairs down, we still went on the beach.
We played in the waves and then AB enjoyed writing in the sand.
She wrote her “nitials” of course… which usually come out looking like: “PAM” (confuses the W for a M) or “PAW” (she gets them out of order sometimes). :)
We got close to 3 good hours in before the rain came. It was close to nap time anyway, so we went up and got the girls laid down. Of course the sun came out after I'd already had my shower, but that's okay- I enjoyed a lazy afternoon with DW. He doesn't do "lazy" very well, so I take it when I can get it.
We very rarely go down to the main pier/boardwalk in Daytona. It's always so crowded and touristy that we always steer clear. Since we haven't been in YEARS (we've never even taken AB down there), we thought it would be fun to take the girls that afternoon.
We took them to a movie first. We wanted to see Brave, but it wasn't playing, so we saw Ice Age 4- Continental Drift. I’ve never seen any of the other ones, but it was pretty cute and AB loved getting to go to the movies again. (More than that she loved the big tub of popcorn and the drink that was half as tall as she is). Mamie did very good on her first trip to the movies! I only had to take her out for about 15 minutes.
After the movie, we walked down the boardwalk to the main pier.
Joe's CrabShack just opened on the pier this summer.
Dinner was great
and AB had a fun time.AB & Our waitress dancing during one of the songs
They had a balloon artist who made her a seahorse. The seahorse almost had a short lived life when we got in the truck later that evening and she told us that seahorse didn't like her Mommy. I have no idea where that one came from or why her seahorse didn't like me. I tried not to take it personal. :) She did redeem herself a little when she told the Seahorse that “it wasn’t very nice to not like mommy.” A few miles down the road, seahorse changed it’s mind and turns out it DID like Mommy. Whew – I was worried for a minute.
After dinner we had to take a little detour back to the Target. Turns out, Momma left her wallet at the store the night before. Thankfully Daddy didn't choke Momma about that and even more so, thank the Lord that there are still honest people in the world. :)
Yesterday morning it was overcast and sprinkling off and on. DW & AB headed to the pool while Mames and I started packing and cleaning up.
We joined them for a little while until it was Mamie's morning nap time.
We left a little after 12, and stopped at Red Robin for lunch before heading home. Only one word. YUM.
It was such a fun little weekend away and we're so thankful that our Pappy & Nie-Nie are always so sweet to share their little piece of paradise with us.

What a fun weekend! I love it all, especially the underwater pictures. That new camera is the business :)
Michelle Walker came in the Journal yesterday and told me to tell you she saw y'all at the restaurant on the pier, so FYI you never know who's watching! Scary right...
Girl you are having a whirlwind of a summer! Beach, theme parks, beach. You have to S-T-O-P with the beach pictures, I'm green with envy. No, keep posting, seriously...I love seeing your pics and reading about your adventures. Those underwater pics are so sweet.
