The Jr. Woman’s Club does a couple breakfast fundraisers during the year and we’re always glad when it works out for us to get to go.
Breakfast with Santa was on Saturday, so we signed up to take the crew. Uncle Adam, Nen, Parker and Quinn joined us, too. We even woke up to cold weather, which always makes this time of year feel more like Christmas!
We got our picture made with the man in red on the Ivy House porch, then went inside for our pancakes.
The kids were all surprised when Santa made the rounds and even came to visit us at our table.
That evening, we had our extended Whitehurst family Christmas party, with DW’s 3 aunts and their families. It’s always a fun night, too, and we enjoy catching up with everyone. Each year a different one of the siblings host, and this year was DW’s Aunt Nancy’s turn. She had planned a couple fun games and my favorite thing she planned was to have the whole family sing their mother/grandmother’s favorite Christmas song. It was super sweet and I love the way DW’s Daddy & Aunts honor their parents’ memory and pass along things about them to their children and grandchildren. December is always busy, but it’s always so refreshing to be with family and recharge and refocus.
