When I was a little girl, one of my favorite things to do around the holidays was when we’d ride around looking at Christmas lights. It was usually the week of Christmas, sometimes even on Christmas Eve night. We’d usually have some cookies and punch to take with us – my momma would mix some red Hawaiian punch and sprite together and we’d have red mustaches before the night was over.
Last year, we took Grammy & Pop over to the Cade’s Christmas display, and we loved it. We’d planned to go back this year, until DW talked to one of his friends from Live Oak who said we should check out the Spirit of the Suwannee Festival of Lights.
On a last minute whim, we decided to give it a try and it turned out to be fantastic!
When we pulled up and saw the long line waiting to get in, we knew it must be good.
You can rent golf carts or just drive your cars through, but Pop rented us a golf cart. It was so much fun. The kids loved riding through the millions of lights on the golf cart. It was super cold, and we weren’t really dressed warmly enough, but other than that, it was a great time.
We parked the golf cart and walked through the little village they have and we even got to go inside a 1900 year told redwood tree that someone had built a traveling home inside. (Things you never thought you’d do, because you never even knew such existed. Ha)I’m glad we changed our plans and tried this place out. We will definitely do it again. ~amw~
